I started Good Habits in October 2013 and had one on one meetings with Carole for the first 4 weeks. I found this invaluable in the beginning as she ‘Tailor Made’ eating habits and menus specifically for me, I then attended the weekly group meetings. My start weight was 11.5lb. and my goal weight was 10st.

I reached my goal weight in February 2014 (Less than 4 months) loosing slowly but surely. Interestingly, I kept losing weight and am now 9.7lb. I feel ok with this as it gives me leeway for holidays, bad days, brunches etc., I have maintained my weight loss for over a year now and have kept at just under 10 stone. My body shape has changed entirely and am now able to wear figure hugging dresses and can tuck my blouses into my trousers! With all other diets, I lost weight but then put it back on and then some. I don’t think of this as a diet, it truly is changing your eating habits. My bad habits were Chocolate, fruit juices (often a litre per day), baguettes smothered with butter and takeaways. I substituted chocolate with Carole’s fruit cake or ice cold tins of mandarin segments, I put a small amount of the fruit juice into a litre bottle of water to give some taste, I substituted my baguettes smothered in butter to wraps with low fat mayo with tuna, chicken etc., It was hard giving up my takeaways but started making stews with lots of veg which I could freeze. Preparation is the key, I always had something ready to eat and I planned each morning what I would have for lunch and dinner.

As Carole knows, I love my brunches and dine out almost every weekend so I never feel as if I’m deprived. When eating out, I try to drink a lot of water, I always eat my veg first so as not to be tempted to eat too much meat or desert, and I never eat the bread. I don’t have scales at home and like to come for weigh in’s every 3 – 4 weeks and because I maintain my goal weight, every meeting is free!

2 recipes I use often is the Tagliatelle Carbonara and the Salmon Mousse. I also like lamb stew with leeks, carrots and parsnip. I also love mince and onion with Yorkshire pudding. I occasionally still order a takeaway, but because my tummy’s shrank, the portion will easily last 2 days. I think the 2 main tips I would give for reaching and then maintaining your goal weight is;
1/ Preparation (always know and prepare what you will eat that day and the next)
2/ If you have a bad day, simply start afresh the next day and don’t get disheartened.
